Garden Party: openingsparty powered by Cactus

13 April 2024
Museumkwartier

Ready to open the most urgent expo of the moment? On Saturday 13 April, we will dance the night away at Arentshof and Arentshuis. Rebel Garden's opening party is free, reservations are not required.

Digi Rebel Garden Titel4

Throughout the day, you are welcome in Arentshof for a drink at the bar or a (sustainable) snack at one of the food trucks and market stalls on the square.

From 7.30pm, we dim the lights and dance under the stars in the Arentshof and in the ambient 17th-century Arentshuis. From the crazy beats of Borokov Borokov to the quirky CDs of artist and special DJ guest Guillaume Bijl.

Want to visit the exhibition before that? Between 5pm and 10pm, be the first to discover Rebel Garden during the exclusive nocturne.

Line-up

7.30pm-9.30pm: Ijf Boullet

Music fan, compiler and drummer Ijf Boullet has a broad knowledge of music as well as an eclectic approach. Ijf shuns boxes: expect everything between jazz, folk, wave, pop, psychedelica and back, as can be heard on his compilations for the STROOM label or radio shows on Dublab, Kiosk and NTS radio.

9.30pm-10.30pm: Borokov Borokov

The electronica duo Borokov Borokov is one of the most fun acts in our little country. If anything can be called Borokov Borokov's formula, it can probably be distilled from the following quote: "First and foremost, we make music we want to dance to. Even when the music in question does not immediately sound like dance music."

The result may resemble, for example, angular synthpop, incapacitated hi-NRG, kraut rock with a double 't', supra-freudian electrapunk, birthday-themed acid house, no-no wave, a polyphonic panic attack, or multilingual lamentation. As if with each track, the band seizes a new opportunity to waltz out of the confines of its own straitjacket, albeit with no guarantee of success. Their latest music video 'PEUGEO' was made by the renowned Antwerp artist 'PUILLAUME BIJLIO', or at least possibly by his assistants, not entirely clear...

10.30pm-12am: Guillaume Bijl

When Bob Dylan wrote 'Forever Young', he probably had Guillaume Bijl (78) in mind. In addition to being an artist - Bijl is part of Rebel Garden with one of his large, ironic sculptures - he is also a wildly popular DJ. From his wheelchair, he plays all of pop history on CD, from Little Richard to Kendrick Lamar.
