Requesting an image

Musea Brugge is in the process of making its collection of more than 90,000 works of art and heritage objects digitally accessible. You can already view a large part of the collection on our website. Would you like to request an image of an object from our collection for personal or commercial use? Read about the procedure here.

Image requests for works from our collection go via artinflanders.be, the image database for Flemish museums and heritage institutions. Here you can freely search and download images for your own use. Can you not find or download an image? If so, there are two possible reasons:

  1. The image is not yet in the database. In that case, please contact us directly at musea.bron@brugge.be. We will be happy to help you.
  2. Have you found an image but can't download it? If so, it will be a copyrighted image. This is generally the case for creators who died less than 70 years ago. Unfortunately, we cannot make these images available via the download button.

Are you using an image? We would greatly appreciate a mention of Musea Brugge and the photographer (this can be found via Art in Flanders).

Are you using an image in a publication? If so, please send a copy to Musea Brugge, Dijver 12, 8000 Bruges. More info: musea.bron@brugge.be.

Do you have any questions about how to use the database, rights statements and licensing or commercial use of the images? Please consult the page at artinflanders.be.
