Deze figuratieve voorstelling van een mannenhoofd is vermoedelijk afkomstig van de gewelfribben van het nieuwe Sint-Juliaansgasthuis in de Boeveriestraat dat in 1419-1420 werd gebouwd. Deze kopjes (9 in totaal) zijn vaak satirisch van aard.
