Two large paintings and a series of still lifes immerse the viewer in a disorienting world inhabited by colourful fauna and fauna.

Lemon Drizzle

Sanam Khatibi lives and works in Brussels. She has already shown her work at numerous national and international exhibitions, but now for the first time she will be exhibiting in the Groeningemuseum. Using a dozen or so paintings, Khatibi will immerse the viewer in a strange and surprising world, populated with colourful fauna and flora. It is a world where man and beast encounter each other in a sensual game of power, violence and destruction, triumph and loss, fear and desire. These figures elicit our amazement, but also earn our (deep) admiration.

Sanam Khatibi has exhibited at the Central Museum in Utrecht, The Netherlands; the 16th Istanbul Biennial (curator Nicolas Bourriaud) in Istanbul, Turkey; the Museum of Contemporary Art (MHKA) in Antwerp, Belgium; the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) in Marseille, France; and at Regional Centre of Contemporary Art Occitanie (CRAC) in Sète, France. Recently, she also had a solo exhibition, which was shown at locations that include BPS22 in Charleroi, Belgium; the Kunsthal in Ghent, Belgium, and the PPOW Gallery in New York. Sanam Khatibi is represented by Rodolphe Janssen in Brussels and the PPOW in New York.
