After a comprehensive restoration of five years, the Gruuthusemuseum has reopened.
Experience the history of Bruges in a completely new way. Discover majestic tapestries, colourful stained-glass windows, elegant wood sculptures, historical lace, Burgundian manuscripts and Chinese porcelain. All objects tell their own unique story. Three periods of Bruges' rich history come to life.
Lodewijk van Gruuthuse, who gave this imposing Bruges city palace its grandeur, lived according to the slogan 'Plus est en vous'. This is also the guideline for viewing the collection today. In the attic you can enjoy the view over the city and get to know the participation project of our youth crew.
The surrounding area has also been thoroughly renovated: the inner courtyard has been redesigned and the museum pavilion also provides access to the magnificent Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe Church.
