"Plus est en vous" or "There’s more in you." Perhaps you have heard the saying before? It was the life motto of Louis (or Lodewijk) van Gruuthuse, the man who endowed this city palace with its grandeur.
The Gruuthuse museum is home to majestic tapestries, colourful stained-glass windows, elegant wooden sculptures, historic lace, Burgundian manuscripts and Chinese porcelain. Each object tells a unique Bruges story. The highlight is the authentic late 15th century oratory which connects the palace and the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk (Church of our Lady) with a view of the Gothic chancel of the church.
The balcony offers a fantastic view of the most beautiful spots in Bruges, including one of the most photographed bridges and the Museum of the Church of Our Lady. So there is more, right?
