Maria is afgebeeld in een interieur en Jezus zit op haar schoot. Hij beweegt zich naar Johannes de Doper als kind om hem te omarmen. Naast Johannes zit een lam dat symbool staat voor zijn herkenning van Christus als de Zoon van God. De personages hebben allemaal een aureool. Op tafel staat een fruitschotel en bovenaan hangen gordijnen.
