MASTERPIECE

All over the world, people, especially children, are baptised. This happens “in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit”. As shown in the central panel of this triptych, Christ himself was baptised by John (the Baptist), in the River Jordan. Around Christ’s head, we see golden rays of light, indicating his divine nature. Right above this is the dove that symbolizes the Holy Spirit. It is also surrounded by a coloured halo. Right at the top, surrounded by an even larger ring of clouds, we see the figure of God the Father. Golden vertical rays connect him directly to his son and allow his spirit to pass into him.
