This museum houses a breathtaking silver treasury, including candlesticks, lamps, a bust, and even a crown. This chalice from 1556 is the oldest. It is neatly engraved with leaf patterns, ointment jars, towers, and saints. Centuries ago, Bruges was a thriving centre of silverware. A lot of it got lost in the wake of the French Revolution when all silver was taken. On feast days the silverware is still used for the celebration of mass.
