We would need eyes everywhere to grasp this intriguing work. The end of the ages is nigh. Christ, flanked by angels and saints, looks down on sin and temptation. Pious believers go to heaven, whilst sinners are consigned to hell. The central panel is occupied by grotesque and strange characters and naked figures. Did Bosch wish to point the finger at his contemporaries? The colourful palette in the foreground contrasts with the burning city in the right section. This work has recently been restored.
